"Barbie Girl" was the first song by Aqua who came out of NOWHERE in the late 90s to be global stars and then kinda vanished the same way. They returned about 3 or 4 years ago and have been doin stuff in Denmark which isn’t really much use to me. I’d love to see them live actually. I wonder could we get them for Waterford Pride.

"Downtown" is a song by Petula Clark who I believe has sold more records than any other British female artist! There’s something ya wouldn’t have known. It’s a catchy little 60s song and one of me favourites from back then, not that I was there but ya know what I mean. Petula is still bangin around these days I believe. "Bohemian Rhapsody" is probably one of the best songs ever written. Actually I think I saw a programme where it was voted the best song ever. It’s one of those tunes that makes ya go “Ah I love this song” whenever ya hear it, unless of course ya don’t love it. I do. The Muppets did a great version of it.

This is one of me favourite YouTube videos of all time and was a big part of the Muppets comeback in the last few years. The video had 7 million hits within a week makin’ it one of the fastest videos ever to hit that number and because of it’s online popularity, it was released on iTunes where it hit #32 in the British charts!

"Sweet Caroline" has been murdered at karaoke by more people than I care to remember. Poor Neil Diamond must be ragin. Me da loves him although the only songs I know he does are this and the Blue Jeans one. He’s still goin and did a concert in the Aviva in Dublin last year with X-Factor’s Mary Byrne.

"Summer of '69" has nothin to do with the sexual position or at least that’s what Canadian hunk Bryan Adams would like us to think. Actually he’s not a hunk anymore. He was on the X-Factor last year and looked a bit awkward. This song annoys me coz drunken girls the world over fall around the dancefloor to it. I was never one of them.

"Baby Got Back" is a great little song about girls with big bums, not that I have one. It’s the only song I’ve ever heard of by Sir Mix-A-Lot so guessin he wasn’t that big apart from this. I LOVE Blathnaid! She was a judge on the All Ireland Talent Show when I was on it and she was so nice to us. This happened durin her presentin days on The Afternoon Show and ya can see she’s findin it hard to keep a straight face! LOVE HER!

"Eye of the Tiger" is a song from Rocky or one of those movies. Actually it was Rocky. What a fun tune. It makes me want to put on me bathrobe and run up the stairs. I’d be great at boxin!

Is this the most amazin’ TV show EVER? Where In The World was a favourite on RTE on Sunday nights for many years hosted by the lovely Theresa Lowe who went on to become a lawyer. It’s my dream to see this show revived!

"Keep On Loving You" is a great tune. It’s one of me favourite love tunes ever and it makes me feel warm inside about the eighties. I want this song played at me weddin. That and some form of Nicki Minaj medley. It’s so nice. REO Speedwagon had some classic tunes, most of them I’ve only start lovin since I saw Rock Of Ages.

Supermarket Sweep

When I was young I used to love stayin off school coz I could watch gems like this! Supermarket Sweep was a big hit in the 1990s. It was a game show where contestants ran around a supermarket lookin for stuff. Kinda like modern day Aldi. Hosted by Dale Winton so it was obviously fantastic PLUS they made this amazin song! GO WILD IN THE AISLES!

"U Can't Touch This" is MC Hammer's 1990 smash that changed the world of rap music forever. MC paved the way for such amazin white rappers as Eminem and that chap from Linkin Park. The song was a huge hit and I vaguely remember seein it on MTV or though in sayin that, it could easily have been VH1 Classic coz I’m probably not that old.

Out For The Weekend

Heyiz!! This is the line up for OFTW AKA Kilkenny Pride! Gonna be amazin so make sure you catch it!

OUT For The Weekend, Kilkenny’s Gay Pride festival is returning from 24th - 26th August this year. Now in its third year thanks to funding from The Community Foundation of Ireland and The Councils of the City & County of Kilkenny, the festival is offering up a more diverse line up of performance, art, theatre, music and symposiums to cater to everyone of all ages, genders and persuasions.

This years festival will be mostly focused on the Parliament Street area of Kilkenny City and kicks off on Friday 24th August with the opening of the Irish Queer Archives. A major coup for the festival, The Irish Queer Archives contains the most comprehensive collection of material in Ireland relating to homosexuality and general queer studies, providing fascinating insights into the social, cultural and political history of the LGBT communities in an Irish and international context during the latter half of the 20th century. It will be followed up by a night of performance, pop, dance and burlesque with cabaret crooner Captain Anchor accompanied by DJ Alex on the decks. Entry for this kick off party is free!

In another coup for the festival, Devious Theatre will be performing their acclaimed new show Phantasm by John Kennedy in Cleere’s Theatre for five performances from Thursday to Saturday night. The drug-addled romantic comedy opened at Solstice during Cork Midsummer Festival and this will be its debut performance in Kilkenny.

Saturday sees LGBT Diversity presenting Gay & Lesbian Health and Well-Being workshops in the Abbey Business Centre with free entry for all. One of Saturday night’s big shows sees the return of Rosie Howick perform her exhilirating Kylie, Lady Gaga & Katy Perry tribute extravaganza. DJ Razor’s 90’s Mixtape will be opening proceedings with DJ Iano wrapping things up with dancing into the wee hours.

The Sunday events include WalkabOUT Kilkenny, which begins at the Parade on Sunday morning with everyone welcome to join. The big musical hit of last years festival was the Rock OUT competition with this years Rock OUT Final taking place in the Foróige Drum Youth Centre at 4.30pm with some of the regions best young bands duking it out for a cash prize. Only the best will survive!

The weekend will be wrapping up with the dynamic twosome of the All Time DJs returning with an 80’s megamix entitled Now That’s What I Call All Time 80’s. "Honey, Honey" is probably one of ABBA’s lesser known songs although that might have to do with the fact that it wasn’t on the ABBA Gold CD. It was in Mamma Mia though so it’s a lot better known now. I’m delighted coz I always liked it. I’d love Flo Rida to cover it.

This is gas. Phat Gay Kid got a lot of attention on YouTube about 2 years ago  however it turned out it was all a big hoax and this chap was actin. One of the contestants in Dragiators thought it’d be hilarious to get a shoutout for him and he does around the 2:52 mark! GAS!

"Lay All Your Love on Me" is probably one of me favourite ABBA songs of all time. It’s defo up there with the likes of SOS. A-Teens did a great cover of it and made it into a dance track. It’s a pity they’re not still around coz I liked A-Teens.

"Don't Dream It's Over" is a song by Crowded House but it’s actually the Dove version I remember better. Dove were a band that had 2 songs in Ireland and they were meant to be the next big thing but never really worked out that way which is a pity coz I LOVED THEM!!!

"I Think We're Alone Now" has been recorded by everyone at some time or other. I think Tiffany might have been Scottish or maybe I just made that up? I remember bein told that. They didn’t really have any big hits so this is the one everyone remembers them for, unless they’re actually remember Tiffany from Eastenders which is likely.
