90’s kids show Alex Mack gets a pg15 DVD release

This is kinda funny. The British Board of Film Classification has given kids TV show Alex Mack (The one where she gets superpowers after a chemical spill) a PG15 rating! Here’s why -

"One episode in this TV series contains a scene in which a child character hides inside a tumble drier. The presentation of this behaviour is comic and no negative consequences are shown which would warn young viewers of the potential dangers of hiding in such appliances. While fatal incidents of children trapped in washing machines or fridges are rare, there remains sufficient cause for serious concern. The distributor indicated that they would be happy to accept a higher certificate rather than cutting the episode. The TV series is rather dated and would not have much appeal to a young audience when compared to current children's TV programmes. In addition, as the work was being targeted at an adult 'nostalgia' market, children would not be the 'natural' audience. The BBFC decided - given the work's history, the company's willingness to accept a higher certificate and that the work was not being aimed at children - to pass it '15' without cuts."

Cher Lloyd is a confusin’ character. Ya can’t deny she has a bit of edge that makes her stand out as a bit of a teeny pop icon but nowhere near as clean cut as the likes of Justin Bieber or Selena Gomez. She sounds like a bit of a bitter betty as you can see from this article from Digital Spy.

In an interview with Real Breakfast this week, Cher was asked whether or not she’d ever consider performing a duet with Cheryl.

Mermaids in Zimbabwe

This is a bit mad! The reservoir workers are afraid of mermaids!!!

Counstruction workers are refusing to build new reservoirs in Zimbabwe after being left terrified by mermaid sightings.

Government minister Samuel Sipepa Nkomo said that labourers have been so spooked by the presence of the mythical creatures in towns Gokwe and Mutare that they would not return.

"All the officers I have sent have vowed not to go back there," he told a parliamentary committee.

According to the country's Herald newspaper, mermaids are apparently present at other sites and can only be scared away through a combination of sacred rites to appease spirits and traditional beer.

The reservoirs are crucial to providing Zimbabwe's population with adequate water and boosting agricultural production.

A belief in mermaids is said to be relatively widespread throughout the country.

Cheryl Cole is reportedly feeling “tortured” by having to decide whether to join The X Factor with Simon Cowell, to side with Will.i.am on The Voice.

Both stars have offered Cheeza huge roles in the upcoming shows, and either one is sure to boost her career.

Will.i.am said earlier this week he wanted to get Cheryl to perform on The Voice in order to “p*ss off” Simon, but sources claim Cheryl’s back on terms with the music mogul now.

“Cheryl was devastated by what Simon did to her last year over US X Factor but that’s ancient history now and she doesn’t bear a grudge against him,” a source tells Reveal magazine this week.

Meanwhile, there’s likely to be some empty seats on this year’s X Factor judging panel that Cheryl could fill.

But the source continues: “That said, she’s still hugely loyal to Will. He had her back when everyone else was standing by to watch her fall, and he gave her the strength to get through the storm.

“Will totally rebuilt her confident because it was shattered until he stepped in.”

The insider added: “Choosing between the two most important men in her life – her ex Ashley Cole aside – is like torture for her. She simply cannot do it.”

Ryanair’s new Budapest base

Ya have to to love Ryanair. Just 7 hours after Malev grounded all their flights, Ryanair announced a new base in Budapest! I’m waitin’ for them to start announcin’ new bases in places I’ve never been to before like Ukraine or the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. It’s meant to be nice there!

Ryanair, the world’s favourite airline today (3^rd Feb) at a press conference in Budapest announced its intention to launch a rescue plan for Budapest and Hungarian tourism following the grounding of Malev airline last evening. Ryanair confirmed that it will base 4 brand new Boeing 737-800 series aircraft at Budapest Airport commencing in just two weeks time on Friday 17^th February where it will open 31 new routes, offering lower fares (€9.99/HUF2,999) than any other airline, and delivering up to 2m passengers p.a., replacing most of the traffic and routes lost by Budapest following last night’s grounding of Malev.

Ryanair, which currently employs over 700 Hungarian pilots and cabin crew, will be holding an open recruitment day in Budapest on Tuesday next (7^th Feb), inviting job applications from Malev pilots, cabin crew and engineers to help Ryanair gear up for this 4 aircraft, 2m passenger p.a. base at Budapest Airport. The International Airport Council figures confirm that this 2m pax p.a. will support 2,000 jobs at Budapest Airport.

This largest ever investment in Hungarian aviation and tourism is subject to reaching final agreement with Budapest Airport today on costs, facilities and handling, and Ryanair’s Deputy CEO Michael Cawley has travelled to Budapest to finalise these negotiations with Budapest Airport and the Hungarian Government. Because Ryanair has grounded up to 80 aircraft this winter, it has the capacity to respond immediately to the Malev grounding by moving aircraft, pilots and crews to Budapest within two weeks, in order to minimise the disruption to Hungarian consumers/visitors and tourism as a result of the Malev closure.

Ryanair’s new Budapest base will start on Friday 17^th February at fares from €9.99/HUF2,999 and these 31 new routes go on sale at these HUF2,999/€9.99 fares on www.ryanair.com/hu

Steve Jones tweeted today "I won't be hosting next season's X Factor which is a shame but I can't complain as I've had a great time. Good luck to everyone on the show." They’ve also confirmed that Nicole Sherzinger won’t be back for a second season. I bet Cheryl Cole is delighted. Expect everyone thats ever recorded a song to be linked to the judges role although it could very easily be Kelly Rowland. Dermot O’Leary could be on his way to take over from Steve Jones. Davina McCall could be the one to take over from Dermot in the UK! Oh the drama of it all!

VERY excited about this! I’m a huge fan of the X-men and sometimes I even think I am one and LOVED X-men first class so clearly I’m delighted to see that Matthew Vaughn is gonna be back for the next one. All the cast are set to return and Bryan Singer is goin’ to direct. With The Wolverine, Deadpool and now this sequel in production, we could get 3 X-Men movies in the next 2 years!! Taylor Kitsch who played Gambit in X-men Origins Wolverine has said he’s likely to return sometime in the future too along with Danny Huston who played William Striker in Origins Wolverine! It’s all very Xcitin! See what I did there??

There seems to be all sorts of stuff flyin’ around about this at the moment, the horror that Bebo might actually be gone even though no one uses it any more apparently! To be honest, I think there might be a bit of a technical problem or hackin’ attempt coz it’s unlikely they’d just shut it without warning people so they could get their data or random pictures of them 5 years ago half naked and locked at an 18th in Coolock. I just read as well that AOL bought Bebo for $850m and sold it for $10m. Scarlet for them! I’m guessin’ Bebo is gonna be back online in a few hours but we’ll wait and see!

Well the rumours are flyin’ around and now Mel B has said on Australian TV that the Spice Girls plan to reunite for a special performance to be broadcast for the Queens Jubilee. British porn star has insured his penis for $1 million (£640,000), it has been revealed.

Keiran Lee from Derby, took out the insurance policy with Lloyd's of London earlier this week, reports The Sun.

Lee's porn studio Brazzers took out the policy in case the star suffered an injury, he explained, adding that the company would not pay him if he were to lose his penis.

"I had to have a medical exam to make sure I was all fit and healthy," Lee said.

"I don't plan on losing my penis any time soon. The worst part is that if anything does ever happen, the money gets paid out to Frank Lipari, my boss."

Lee has filmed around 800 scenes in his porn career, with about 600 of which for the Brazzers brand.

The return of Eurotrash!

So there I was last week sittin’ in the livin’ room watchin’ something on TV3, although don’t ask me what coz I wasn’t really payin’ attention and then all of a sudden durin’ the ad breaks an ad for Eurotrash came on!! Seems that TV3 decided to show it on Friday night which I’m sure had every 14 year old boy in Ireland jumpin’ up and down with excitement as they ran up to their bedrooms with a mansize box of Kleenex!

Anyone of a certain age will remember Eurotrash on Channel 4 for bein’ a weird way to look at Europeans and what they get up to. That and you were always guaranteed a bit of willy and tit! Great telly!

For some reason I’ve been bloggin’ really late so today’s Song Of The Day is a late one. I think there must have been a different music video for this here in Ireland coz I can’t remember this at all! Its a great song. Makes me feel like puttin’ on sunglasses and dancin’ around me room!

Gaffs Episode 5 – Charlie’s, Georges Street!

Well after the Mr Gay Ireland a few years back we headed to Bukake and meself and Charmin and Regina floated around with Mr Waterford Shane and Mr Limerick Kamil and various other Misters and ended up in Charlie’s where we thought it was the ideal oppertunity to make a Gaffs video! Charmin made loads of friends and chatted to everyone and it was all a great laugh! Bit of interest in the fact that the girls Charmin is talkin' to, she used to work with in Quinn!! The person on the camera is Mr Gay Waterford John Paul from the year after who you'll know from Dignity if you've been there as the drunken fairy!

The Glee League

Abandoned–Chernobyl Exclusion Zone

This is a sad one. Back in the 80’s, the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Station disaster happened in the Ukraine and devastated life in that part of the world. Even now, people can’t go back near it and there’s a 30 kilometre exclusion zone all the way around the plant. People left and have never returned.

Kelly Rowland quits the X-Factor?

Well I’m not gonna say I’m surprised. She was my least favourite judge and I went from lovin’ her work in Destiny’s Child to her annoyin’ me on TV so maybe she should give Michelle and Beyonce a ring and go back to what they did best.

A “source” was speakin’ to the Daily Mirror about it. Who are these sources and why are they never named.

“She enjoyed her time on the programme but was taken aback by the circus surrounding it. From his side, Simon felt that Kelly had got off to a really strong start but slightly faded towards the latter half of the series. He is already on the look-out for fresh talent.”

Abandoned–China’s Wonderland

Here’s the latest in me new obsession with abandoned places. This one is a theme park that was gettin’ built in China and was abandoned with it being only partially built. The farmers just went back to the land after the builders had left. Very strange!
