A man - who handed a wanted criminal over to police while dressed as Batman - has come forward to reveal his identity.
Bradford's disguised vigilante has unmasked himself as Stan Worby, a friend of the suspect Danny Frayne who was wanted in connection with fraud offences.
The 39-year-old Chinese takeaway delivery driver revealed that he had received a call from the suspect asking him for a lift to the police station so that he could turn himself in, reports The Daily Telegraph.
Explaining his unusual attire, Worby said he had just returned from a football match at London's Wembley Stadium, which he had been to in fancy dress.
He had been at the game when Frayne phoned him, and he agreed to drive his friend to the station as soon as he got back to Bradford.
Police had previously attempted to contact Frayne to try to persuade him to hand himself in. They had also been in touch with his friends and family to enlist their help.
Worby said: "It was a joke at the end of the day and Danny wanted to go to the police station. I had spoken to Danny during the week and tried to knock some sense into him.
"It was getting on my nerves having police around all the time asking for him or his whereabouts.
"Danny's a good friend of mine and I've known him for 15 years or so. Who knows if I'll be doing some more crime-fighting in the future?"
Frayne has been charged with handling stolen goods and fraud offences, and will appear before Bradford magistrates on Friday (March 8).
